Corporate Safety Policy

Employees are our most important asset. Their safety is our greatest responsibility. It is the policy of Meccon Industries, Inc. to provide a safe working environment, to eliminate safety hazards and to provide adequate safety devices for all Meccon employees.

Further, it is our goal to create a safety awareness among our employees so that each individual understands that he or she has the ultimate responsibility to work safely. Unsafe work practices by an individual can often lead to accidents even in a safe working environment. It is our goal to eliminate both.

It is the policy of our company to:

	■	Comply with the federal, state and/or local regulations governing safety at the jobsite.
	■	Take expedient action to correct or isolate unsafe conditions or work practices.
	■	Promote safety awareness.
	■	Hold each employee accountable for their individual responsibility for safety.
	■	Encourage our employees to inform their supervisor immediately when unsafe conditions are present without fear of reprisal.
	■	Every reasonable effort will be made to assure that employees can accomplish the safe completion of assigned tasks. No task is so important, nor so urgent, that we cannot take the time to do it safely.

Meccon has a unique history of efficiency and an accident rate far below the national average. As a result of our ongoing Field Safety Program, productivity is greatly enhanced. Our goal is to provide a safe working environment protecting both you and our own employees. At Meccon , safety is a priority.

To uphold our high safety standards, our full time Safety Director coordinates Meccon's "Safety and Loss Control Program" which includes the following:

Safety

Meccon actively pursues an ongoing safety awareness program to ensure that our personnel operate in a safe environment.

We firmly believe that accidents can be controlled and prevented and that the key to controlling accidents on each project rests with supervision and their understanding of the direct relationship of safety and insurance costs. Safety is the prime responsibility of operating management and these responsibilities must be accepted by all supervisory employees. Our basic objective is to establish, throughout the construction site, a concept that protection of people and property will receive top priority, support, and participation by all management personnel.

Meccon performs work on all projects within the following safety guideline information and procedures:

	■	Meccon's Safety Policy.
	■	Meccon's Safety and Loss Control Program which includes Meccon's "Policy and Procedures for a Safe, Drug-Free and Alcohol-Free Work Place."
	■	Meccon's proposed staffing to ensure an effective safety program includes the employment of a safety engineer to coordinate specific project safety procedures. Our project safety engineer is responsible for reviewing the safety practices of the field personnel, and developing continuing instruction for specific safety issues.
	■	Initial employee orientation program includes instructions on: Project Emergency Action Plans Meccon's Safety Requirements Owner's Safety Requirements
	■	Meccon's safety engineer will have the authority and responsibility to ensure that work proceeds in a safe and efficient manner and to ensure that the supervision follows the same guide lines. The project safety engineer will report to the corporate Safety Director and weekly review meetings will be held to discuss all pertinent safety related issues. A monthly walk-thru of all active areas by a safety committee would review the program's effectiveness.
	■	All accidents are investigated by the job site safety engineer to determine cause along with near misses (incidents). All cases are reviewed with Meccon's Corporate Safety Director, the Job Project Manager and the Job Superintendent to determine any additional efforts that may be necessary to eliminate accidents in the future.
	■	Meccon will aggressively perform training to ensure compliance with all project safety requirements including the following programs: Powered Industrial Trucks Hazwoper OSHA 10/30 Hour First Aid and CPR, Respiratory, Hazcom, Aerial Lifts
	■	Meccon gives special recognition for specific acts of safety awareness and effort.

All construction project safety standards, programs, training and procedures are developed, implemented and monitored by Meccon's corporate safety director.
